Thanks for the thoughts folks. I take the driving part of the MSF course tomorrow: first time on a motorcycle! In my area right now, before the selling seaons is under way, I've seen two new 98 Savages for $3580, one maroon 96 with 3600 miles for $2900, and another dealer said he still has all his used road bikes in storage, but has a couple of used Savages for about $2,500. Seems like an affordable first bike, even after reading Tumi Laamanen's long-term report over on the Thumper Page. (Gee, do new belts really cost over $400?!) Assuming I don't break my neck this weekend, soon .... very soon.
